Tom Harris
Tom is a certified arborist with over ten years of experience. His company Big T’s Trees first and foremost priority is always to save trees rather than chopping them down. Only trees which cannot be saved are used for pieces of furniture which are then displayed down at the showroom. At the core of Tom’s philosophy is recycling and sustainability. Rather than chopping up trees into firewood, he had the vision to turn them into useful pieces of art which bring nature’s beauty into his customer’s homes. It is this sincere love for wood and the beauty contained within it that Tom hopes he captures in every piece of furniture.

THE PROCESS
We cut the Trees down and take them back to our yard in large sections using our crane. We feel really good about doing it this way rather than the trees ending up in the landfill. Once it’s safely back to our yard we seal the ends of the wood to prevent unnecessary cracking and then use one of our 3 sawmills to mill it. Once it’s milled we stack and sticker it and let it dry for up to 4 years. Then we finish off the drying process in our Vacuum kiln. This assures the wood is completely dry and ready to work with. Once it’s dry we take it over to the wood shop and design your masterpiece. It’s a long process to get the wood ready to work with. The turn around time on a custom wood furniture order is usually less than a month.

We have hundreds of cut-offs. Make a Coffee Table, End Tables, Shelves. $5-$40. For bigger projects, we have slabs, 5’-16’ long, 12”-50” wide, 2”-8” thick. Many types of woods. Or, maybe you’re looking for a beautiful, one of a kind table.
